Why month end is the bottleneck
Most leases end and most closings land on the last business day of the month, so demand for crews, trucks and condo elevators peaks on the same handful of dates. The last Friday of the month is the single busiest day in the industry, followed by the final weekend.
If your date is fixed by a closing, book early — three to four weeks for a house, two to three weeks for a condo that needs an elevator slot.
Easier dates
- Mid-month weekdays: the widest choice of start times and the best short-notice availability.
- The middle of the week generally: Tuesday to Thursday is calmer than Friday or Monday.
- Off-season: November through March is quieter across the GTA, with the trade-off of weather planning.
- Morning starts: they leave room in the schedule if a building or elevator runs behind.
Seasonal trade-offs
Summer is peak for family moves because it fits the school year, but it also brings festivals and street closures in neighbourhoods like Roncesvalles, Leslieville and along the Danforth, which affects where a truck can park.
Winter moves are easier to book and often cheaper to schedule, but need extra time for clearing walkways, protecting floors from salt and slush, and slower driving. We build that time into winter bookings rather than rushing it.
If your date moves
New-build closings shift regularly, especially in Vaughan and Markham. Tell us as soon as you know and we will rebook where crews allow. If there is a gap between your closings, short-term storage bridges it — we load, hold and redeliver as one arranged move.
